The Macmillan Way (290 miles, extending to 346 miles)
Walk across Britain in this long distance waymarked footpath starting in Boston and running 290 miles to Abbotsbury on the Dorset coast.
The route follows 290 miles of existing footpaths, bridleways, byways and small stretches of minor road, passing along sea and river banks, through the Lincolnshire Fens at Stamford and down the course of the Cotswold stone oolitic limestone belt south of the Fens. It also provides links with the Viking Way (at Oakham), the Thames Path National Trail (at Thames Head) and the South West Coast Path National Trail (at Abbotsbury).
The Macmillan Way can also be used to walk across England from Boston to Barnstaple, on the North Devon coast - a distance of 346 miles. An add-on, the Macmillan Way West, leaves the main path at Castle Cary (Somerset) and runs over the Somerset Levels, the Quantocks and Exmoor before reaching Barnstaple.
All proceeds from the sale of publications are donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
