Ride & Stride is a sponsored walk, run, cycle or horse ride in which people all over England walk or cycle between churches, exploring and enjoying the countryside from Cornwall to Northumberland.
Participants devise their own route and can visit as many or as few buildings as they like. The money that they raise - £1 million each year - helps to save historic churches, chapels and meeting houses for future generations by funding urgent repairs and the installation of modern facilities.
In Lincolnshire Ride & Stride walkers, runners, cyclists and riders raise around £24,000 each year, shared between participating places of worship and the Lincolnshire Churches Trust (which assists historic churches with the costs of repairs). Around 170 cyclists, walkers, horse-riders and runners take part and some 700 churches are open.
Why not visit The Beonna, enjoy refreshments or a light bite in our cafe, take some time in our quiet churchyard and see a Grade I listed building, started in 1200, that until very recently had an uncertain future. Nearby churches include Butterwick St Andrew's, Leverton St Helena, St James Freiston and St Mary's Old Leake, while Boston Stump is around 5 miles away (and accessible from Benington by bus).
